Everything you need to plan your EBC trek — route, cost, best season, fitness requirements, and day-by-day breakdown.

The Everest Base Camp trek is the ultimate bucket-list adventure. Here's everything you need to know to make it happen.
**Spring (March-May):** Rhododendrons bloom, stable weather, warmer temperatures. The most popular season — expect crowds but stunning clarity.
**Autumn (September-November):** Crystal-clear skies after monsoon, excellent visibility. Slightly cooler than spring. The absolute best conditions for photography.
**Winter (December-February):** Possible but cold (-20°C at night). Fewer trekkers, tea houses may be closed above Namche.
You don't need to be an athlete, but you should be able to walk 6-8 hours per day with a 5-8kg daypack on hilly terrain. Start training 2-3 months before: hiking, stair climbing, and cardio. Previous altitude experience helps but isn't required.
The classic route follows the Dudh Kosi river valley from Lukla through Namche Bazaar, Tengboche, Dingboche, and Lobuche to Base Camp. Most itineraries include a sunrise hike to Kala Patthar for the best Everest views.
