Sarangkot is a hilltop (1,592m) perched above Pokhara that offers two of Nepal's most iconic experiences: a sunrise over the Annapurna range and a tandem paragliding flight high above Phewa Lake.

The Sunrise

The Sarangkot sunrise is legendary. As the first light hits the peaks, the Annapurna massif, Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), Dhaulagiri, and Manaslu are illuminated in sequence — gold, then pink, then blazing white. The viewing platform at the hilltop gets crowded, so arrive early (5:00-5:30 AM depending on season).

Paragliding

Sarangkot is one of the world's premier paragliding launch sites. Tandem flights (no experience needed) soar for 20-45 minutes over Phewa Lake with the Himalayas as backdrop. Operators include in-flight photos and videos.

Getting There

Tips

• Dress in warm layers for the pre-dawn drive and viewing — it is significantly cooler at altitude.
